Winner

Guess who won the Jurors Choice Award at the Lambeth Art Association this weekend?
I was so surprised when judge Suzette Terry http://www.suzette-terry.com/ picked my painting of Buddy as the judges choice.  Suzette comments were "It's in the eyes! Effective cropping and simplicity of paint handling. I couldn't look away. Well done."
The LAA buy the judges choice painting and people bought tickets to win it. My friend, dog lover and fellow artist Donna Andreychuk was the winner.
It was a great art show. Thanks to everyone for their compliments and all my friends that came out to see the show.

Lambeth arts show

Next week is the Lambeth Art Show. I always thought the name sounded very posh, like the Westminster Dog Show. I imagined artists in long gowns and tuxedos running around a ring holding up paintings for people to purchase.
Of course that would be mad. The real art show and sale is a much more relaxed affair. The 100  Members of The Lambeth Art Association work all year painting for the show. There are so many styles and mediums that you cant miss finding something you like. There is a draw for the painting picked as best in show by our judge.
This year is the 40th anniversary of the show, so a special invitation has been issused. Click on the photo, print the invitation and bring it to the show for 5% off your purchase.

Don't miss the tea room, where I can be found working all weekend.

Cleaning up!

Spring always brings to mind Spring Cleaning. Today I tackled my art room. It is such a small space and things can pile up quickly. My plan is to be visious and throw out things I haven't used in years. Like my old oil paints. I use alkyd oil now and I am sure the oil paint is rock hard.

And those old paintings that didn't work. I will pitch them in the trash. Oh , but look at that pastel, a bit of work and it could look great. And that brush I bought in China and never used, how can I throw that out.

Now I am too tired to continue, but tomorrow I will get a start early. May be I could throw a few of Jerrys things out instead.
